Who hasn’t heard about Caldaro? The lake, vineyards, fruit orchards and woods and a gentle Mediterranean climate - the ideal prerequisites for relaxing holidays. Each of the nine hamlets of Castelvecchio, Sant’Antonio, Pozzo, San Nicolò, Villa di Mezzo, San Giuseppe al Lago, Pianizza di Sopra, Pianizza di Sotto and the centre of Caldaro boasts a special traditional flair.
The people of Caldaro care about their self-grown wines, which have become a fundamental part of their culture and lives. Every year, numerous wine events are organised such as the “Caldaro Wine Days” or the local “Wine Festival”, where you may taste such special wines like Lagrein, Merlot, Cabernet, Pinot Blanc or Noir or Sauvignon. And the “South Tyrolean Wine Museum” tells you everything about the history of wine in Caldaro and South Tyrol.
Those looking for a bit more of action should head to Lake Caldaro. Lake Caldaro is known as the warmest lake all over the Alps and is 1.8 km long and 0.9 km wide. Reaching a depth of approximately 4 m, it is the ideal place for swimmers and surfers alike. Here you will find all you wish for!
