Every year in July, Caldaro village (Kaltern Dorf) invites to its traditional village fair, the “Kalterer Marktfest”, a weekend completely dedicated to good music, food and drink. The numerous booths around and on the central Market Square offer regional specialities such as apricot dumplings and porcini risotto as well as other treats including spareribs and the Italian “fritto misto” which is fried seafood. The festival has taken place for almost three decades now and attracts thousands of visitors each year who fully enjoy the beautiful warm summer nights in Caldaro.

The “Caldaro Village Festival”, however, opens with the traditional parade of the Bürgerkapelle Kaltern, that’s to say the local music band, and of the delegations of the Caldaro Sports Club and the folk-dance group. This is followed by live music and entertainment with special activities such as a lucky pot or the Bull Riding competition. On Sunday, the village fair continues with the traditional morning pint called “Frühschoppen” and live folk music. Then the party continues until the evening, when it’s time to say: See you next year at the “Caldaro Village Festival”!
