Ora

Ora is characterised by its historical centre and it is a really sunny place

The municipality of Ora has got about 3,500 inhabitants and is located at 240 m a.s.l. in the Bassa Atesina. This is where the road to the Val di Fiemme takes its course. The centre, by the way worth seeing, can be found above the main road and is characterised by narrow alleys, delimited by 2 m high murals in natural stone. The S. Maria church represents the parish church, another sacred building is the S. Pietro church, boasting Romanesque and Gothic construction elements.

A natural highlight is the waterfall of the Rio Nero, as well as the well-frequented hiking destination Castelfeder, providing a great view on the surroundings. The Adige Cycle Path passes by the village and leads to Trento, it is ideal for extended cycling tours in the valley basin. Also the combination of a cycling tour and a train ride is possible, as Ora is an important train junction station regarding the means of public transport in Bassa Atesina.

An important event is the Markus Market, reviving the village on April 25. Every second year in November, there is also a parade for the Krampus (devils) associations from South Tyrol and abroad. Also Carnival is lushly celebrated in this village, which a parade on carnival Sunday. The traditional "Unterlandler Weinkost" in August makes you enjoy a good glass of local wine and bring closer wine connoisseurs and the cellar masters of Ora.
