Located at 250 m a.s.l., Terlano is located almost in the middle between Bolzano and Merano. Rich green fruit orchards and vineyards characterise both the village of Terlano and its hamlets Settequerce and Vilpiano. What you can see from afar is the steeple of the parish church, which is one of the highest of South Tyrol, consisting of shimmering porphyry stones. There are two castles in Terlano, the Maultasch and Castel del Grifo castles, boasting a remarkable history.
Terlano is located in the east of the Adige river, where apple trees transform into vineyards. Asparagus and the suitable white wine are a true culinary highlight in Terlano. Try Terlano’s special cuisine and you will be more than delighted!
Very comfortable are the transport connections regarding trains, cycle routes and roads to the towns of Merano and Bolzano (about a 10 or 15-minutes’ driving distance). From Vilpiano, there is a funicular to the 1,000 m higher located high-altitude plateau of the Salto. This family-friendly hiking area at the foot of the Sarentino Alps is really worth to be experienced.
