On a weekend in August, the village of Ora (Auer) becomes a meeting point for wine lovers when the "Bassa Atesina Wine Tasting Days" present the best wines of the region. 15 wineries present their good wines, all of which come from the South Tyrolean Bassa Atesina area: These include Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Gewürztraminer for the white wines, and Pinot Noir, Vernatsch, Merlot and Lagrein for the red wines. The area around Ora, like the entire South Tyrolean Wine Road, offers the best conditions for the growth of dark and light grapes.
Around 80 wines can be tasted along the "Wine Mile" and face a jury of oenologists, wine technicians and specialist staff. Over the years, several buildings have also opened their doors to accommodate the "Bassa Atesina Wine Tasting Days", including the historic ambience of Baumgarten Castle, home of the high school of agriculture. Culinary delicacies, interesting lectures and musical entertainment complete the offer. The event looks back on decades of history - the 50th anniversary was celebrated in 2017. Welcome!
