San Paolo is a place of particular beauty, located at an altitude od 394 m asl and characterised by a multitude of historical buildings and residences. This is also the place where once upon a time many aristocrats established their residence in order to demonstrate their wealth and power. Due to its over-dimensional size, it took more than one century to complete the “dome on the countryside”. For this reason, it is characterised by elements of various construction styles, from Gothic to Renaissance and Baroque.
S. Paolo is a village with an own school, kindergarten, a public library and shops. Every two years, there is the “Paulser Dorffest”, a village festival, very popular are also the Wine Culture Weeks. In the period before Christmas, the alleys, windows and courtyards of S. Paolo are decorated with a large number of Christmas cribs, which is a rather contemplative alternative in confront to the hustle and bustle of Christmas Market anywhere else.
