'Schlutzkrapfen' are mostly offered as a starter. They taste best with grated Parmesan cheese and melted butter. The Schlutzkrapfen are made from a dough of rye and wheat flower, filled with spiced, pre-cooked spinach and are briefly cooked in boiling water like noodles.
In many restaurants and households, the Schlutzkrapfen – also called 'Schlutzer' – are homemade and of course taste even better than others. But also the bought spinach pasties are of high quality. Schlutzkrapfen are ideal if you need a quick meal. With Parmesan cheese and butter on top and a salad it is a perfect and delicious meal.
By the way: Schlutzkrapfen are also very often served at the traditional Törggelen!
