There are several larger and smaller skiing areas in the surroundings of the South Tyrolean Wine Road
Fun in the snow, that's what you also can enjoy in the south of South Tyrol. And if you are seeking a real winter sports resort: in a 20-minutes' drive you can reach the small but mighty skiing area above Caldaro at the Passo Mendola. It is particularly popular with families, as it is of modest size.
However, also the Monte Regolo offers some slopes for skiing, such as in the surroundings of Monte San Pietro and Nova Ponente. Alpe di Siusi/Val Gardena, the largest ski resort in the Dolomites of Alto Adige, can be reached whithin a one-hours' car drive, and from Nalles the Merano 2000 skiing resort is only a stone's throw away. Reinswald in Val Sarentino or the skiing area of Obereggen are also easily and quickly accessible by car.
And if the weather plays along, the villages directly on the Wine Road are also covered in snow and offer all kinds of activities for having fun.
