Mountains

The terrain in the south of South Tyrol is flatter than in the north, east and west of the country - nevertheless you can climb various mountains along the South Tyrolean Wine Road

The mountain world along the South Tyrolean Wine Road is characterised by the Monte di Mezzo, a low mountain ridge which divides the Oltradige area, denying the view on the Adige river. The Mendola Ridge with Mt. Penegal and Mt. Roen, however, stretches in the west and represents the natural border between the Trentino and South Tyrol. They are completed by the Monte Regolo and the Monzoccolo high plateaus, both popular excursion destinations.
