Claudio Astronio plays the Partitas IV-VI by Johann Sebastian Bach - BWV 828, 829 and 830 - on the harpsichord.

Johann Sebastian Bach: Between 1726 and 1731, Johann Sebastian Bach published one partita for keyboard instrument each year. In 1731 he then summarised the six compositions once again and published them at the age of 46 as his first work to appear in print under the title Clavir-Übung / bestehend in / Praeludien, Allemanden, Couranten, Sarabanden, Giguen / Menuetten, und anderen Galanterien; / Denen Liebhabern zur Gemüths Ergoetzung verfertiget / von / Johann Sebastian Bach / Hochfürstl: Sächsich Weisenfelsischen würklichen Capellmeister / und / Directore Chori Musici Lipsiensis. / OPUS 1 / In Verlegung des Autoris / 1731.

Claudio Astronio:
A versatile musician, he combines his activities as a soloist on the organ and harpsichord with that of conductor and leads the group ‘Harmonices Mundi’ on original instruments. He has been a guest soloist and conductor with various international orchestras, including the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, and gives concerts and recitals at renowned venues and festivals in Europe, Canada, the USA, South America and Japan.

In 2007, he made his debut as an opera conductor with Mozart's ‘Don Giovanni’ and Christoph Willibald Gluck's ‘Orfeo e Euridice’, directed by Graham Vick. He has conducted performances of H. Purcell's ‘Dido and Aeneas’, G.B. Pergolesi's ‘La serva padrona’, W.A. Mozart's ‘Don Giovanni’ and J.S. Bach's ‘St John Passion’ in a theatre version choreographed by Ismael Ivo and he collaborated with the choreographer Henri Oguike on a performance of a harpsichord sonata by Domenico Scarlatti.
