Summer on the Wine Road Lake Caldaro and the Monticolo Lakes invite to a jump into the water, whereas the funiculars take you up to cooler altitudes. Traditional festivals in the villages along the Wine Road provide entertainment on summer evenings. The so-called Lido at the Big Monticolo Lake with the longest water slide of South Tyrol is only one of many bathing establishments of the area. In June, the traditional Sacred Heart Fires, often in the form of a heart, light up the South Tyrolean sky also in the Oltradige area. The historical Mendola Road, a winding road taking up to the 1,363 m high Mendola Pass, is a highlight for every motorcyclist. An attraction not only for families: the large Caldaro Adventure Park in the Castelvecchio Forest stays open from April to November. The Monte Corno Nature Park, a stunning hiking area, comprises the municipalities of Anterivo, Montagna, Trodena, Egna and Salorno. A beautiful circular walk leads in 2.5 hours from Trodena to the managed Malga Cislon mountain hut (1,249 m a.s.l.) and back to the village. The Wine Road is also a paradise for bikers, here e.g. at the two-hour MTB tour leading from Caldaro through the Monticolo Forest. The Bolzano Fruit Market in July, which offers every day in the heart of the town an abundance of colors, smells and tastes. Several village fairs and festivals, as well as the Long Summer Evenings along the Wine Road, offer entertainment and local delicacies. One of the best-known festivities is the Arcade Festival in Egna, which takes place in August under the historical arcades of the village. The Geologic Trail takes you through the largest gorge of the region: the Bletterbach Gorge, known as the "Grand Canyon of South Tyrol". A tour to the Rastenbach Gorge near Caldaro is not only a refreshing experience, but leads also to presumably the oldest church in South Tyrol.
