Carnival parade in Cortaccia

The “Maschgra” carnival parade starts at 2:00 p.m. at Ansitz Freienfeld and moves through Platzl and Obergasse to the main square, where the celebration continues from 3:30 p.m. onwards.

With music, good vibes, and a beer stand! Food and drinks will be plentiful – come by and join the fun!

Carnival in the Unterland, known as “Maschgra,” is considered the fifth season and is deeply rooted in local tradition. This celebration has always served to chase away the cold of winter and welcome the arrival of spring. Old customs, spontaneous performances, and a strong sense of community make this time something special—a lively blend of tradition, joy, and festive carnival spirit for young and old.
