Ever since I can remember Bolzano has been home to theatres and concerts. But with the Free University of Bolzano opening its doors in October 1997, the number of cultural events in Bolzano has increased even more.

Here you will find plays of all different kinds and forms. Ranging from traditional farces to sophisticated dramas or cabarets, the range of plays is simply huge.
By the way: Have you ever heard about the Busoni Competition? This international piano competition is partly opened to the public and those who are interested in it will definitely be surprised.

A selection of theatres and what they offer:

> The Municipal Theatre of Bolzano (called “Teatro Comunale di Bolzano”) in Piazza Verdi is a building whose architectural beauty is a frequent matter of debate. The theatre hosts plays and performances by both local and foreign theatre groups.

> The “Cortile Theater im Hof” in Piazza Erbe 37 is a smaller theatre with special plays not only for kids.

> The “Carambolage” provides first-class plays and cabarets as well as a competition for small arts on an annual basis. Where to find it? In Via Argentieri 19!
