Practised in Scandinavia already for a long time, Nordic Walking has finally gained popularity even in this neck of the woods.
Want to know what is so great about Nordic Walking? I tell you: Everybody can do it as it is suitable to all ages and abilities! Even to your granny :-) Nordic Walking is actually a kind of walking using specifically designed walking poles and thus increasing your upper body workout.
Compared to plain walking or running, Nordic Walking burns up some 20% more calories. Moreover, it eases tensions in the neck and shoulders muscles, improves spinal mobility, takes strain off your knees and other joints and strengthens the muscles in your forearm, shoulder, pectoral and back muscles. Last but not least the poles render walking on slippery grounds a tad safer.
One thing is sure: Nordic Walking improves your overall physical fitness, strengthens your muscles and improves both mobility and blood circulation. By the way: The ideal pulse rate for a Nordic Walking trip is 120-150 per minute.
Did you know that we along the South Tyrolean Wine Route offer Nordic Walking classes?
