Appiano is home to interesting ice holes and at the southern shore of Lake Caldaro you will find a wooden bridge leading across a rich green reed-biotope.
Other valuable biotopes are found in the Monte Corno Nature Park (look for signposts saying “Langes Moos” or “Peraschupf”), in Castelvetere near to the hamlet of Montagna and in Favogna. Numerous smaller biotopes are spread all over Cortina all'Adige, where the farmers are anxious to restore the original natural environment.
The Monte Corno Nature Park - known as Trudner Horn Nature Park in German - is an officially protected area of 7,000 hectares that features high-altitude woods, coppice woods and Alpine pastures. Discover a fascinating flora and fauna while hiking across this unique natural scenery... or at the nature park information centre!
