Rastenbachklamm gorge
A river pushing its way through Castelvecchio forest.
The little gorge in Castelvecchio forest in Caldaro is a popular destination for hikers and above all for children (if equipped with sturdy shoes), who will love the forest which entails the one or other adventure. The Rastenbachklamm gorge is located in a biotope and particularly in summer months it gives shelter from the heat. The waterfalls and water basins, the moss-grown stones and tree trunks are really impressive.
Generally the Rastenbachklamm gorge is a little natural monument, which casts a spell over all its visitors. Flora and fauna correspond to the cool temperature and moisture in the gorge and represent a real adventure both for adults and kids. However, we recommend you to take a camera with you. The hiking paths take you across the gorge, and part of the gorge also belongs to the “path of peace”, leading from Caldaro to Castelvecchio. Via steps, bridges and paths you can reach Altenburg, in the other way you reach Caldaro.
