Cortaccia

The villages of the municipality of Cortaccia form a wine-growing area with an old tradition

At 333 m above the plains of the Val d'Adige valley nestles Cortaccia, with colourful vineyards, fruit orchards and mixed woodlands. The little hamlets above Cortaccia's centre - such as Penone, Corona and Favogna at 1,000 to 1,200 m a.s.l. - serve as popular summer resorts for locals and tourists alike.

Those visiting Cortaccia shouldn't miss to visit the St. George Church in Corona and the enchanting gardens of Niclara!

Of historical importance is a copper furnace dating back to the 14th century. Parts of the valuable item are still found in the hamlet Fennhals above Cortaccia, which unfortunately aren't open to the public. In the near future they will, however, be displayed on the main square of the village. The remaining parts are housed at the South Tyrolean Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano.
