From Ora to Aldino on the Katzenleiter path

An old path proceeds from Ora to Aldino along the gorge of the Rio Nero river. When the pressure line of the hydroelectric power station was built, 540 steps were created, the so-called Katzenleiter (cat ladder).

From Ora to the 1,000 m higher located village of Aldino – this hiking tour with a steep ascent on the Katzenleiter path we want to discover today. Starting point is the parking space near the lido of Ora. We take the path no. 1 through the forest which proceeds along the Rio Nero river until the camping site. Here the Katzenleiter, a steep stepped path which proceeds along the pressure line of the hydro, starts. At rocky spots the view opens to the waterfall in the gorge and across the Val d’Adige valley near Ora.

After about 1 hour we reach the junction with the path no. 1A. Here, at 650 m asl., the Katzenleiter path ends, path no. 1A proceeds back into the valley. But we stay on the path no. 1, and walk further past meadows and farms and then through the forest to the mountain village of Aldino. There we take the public bus back to Ora.
