The hike, which follows the tracks of the Gewürztraminer wine that made the name of the village famous worldwide, takes place between the end of the merry month of May and early June. The Gewürztraminer Trail leads in about two hours from the old village centre called Betlemme through the Mediterranean landscape of the Termeno vineyards. This special excursion is intended for all those who are interested in nature, viticulture and the Wine Road: You will receive tips on how to plant the vines and learn many interesting facts about the daily work of the winegrowers.
Along the way, 11 wineries and distilleries invite you to taste their wines in unique locations. Of course the Gewürztraminer plays the leading role here, a low-acid white wine with notes of rose, lychee, kumquat, bitter orange and marzipan. The "Hoamet Tramin Museum" also opens its doors on this special day and offers theme tours: It houses a large exhibition of Gewürztraminer from all over the world. The walk of the "Gewürztraminer Wine and Walking Day" (Gewürztraminer Weinwandertag, in German) can be started from any point and can be done in both directions.
