Vernatsch

Vernatsch (Schiava in Italian) is one of the most famous and typical red wines grown on the South Tyrolean Wine Road.

Vernatsch is the most frequently grown red wine grape variety in South Tyrol, most commonly known under the names “Kalterer See Auslese“ or “St. Magdalener“. Vernatsch wines are famous for their mild and fruity aroma. Some also have a light aroma of bitter almond. They are light red/ruby red in colour.

Vernatsch wines are light and pair well with starters, white meat and South Tyrolean dishes and are perfect particularly with bacon, sausages, mild cheese and bread. Vernatsch grapes can vary in colour, size and quality, just like the wines produced from them.

Serving temperature: 14 - 16°C
