On two successive weekends in August, the Termeno fairground turns into a centre of culinary delights
In high summer, the wine village of Termeno near Lake Caldaro dedicates itself to culinary delights: Two consecutive festivals spoil visitors with Italian pasta and Tyrolean dumplings. The “Termeno Pasta Festival” (Traminer Nudelfest, in German), organised by the local tourist board on the fairground, marks the beginning - everything is about spaghetti, lasagne, penne, linguine, farfalle, pasta al forno and other delicious treats which are served with a good glass of wine and live music. By the way: Bad weather is never a problem since the fairground is semi-covered!
The “Termeno Pasta Festival” is followed by the “Termeno Dumpling Festival” (Traminer Knödelfest) on the following weekend: It’s mid-August, the period around the Italian public holiday called Ferragosto, when the Volley Club invites to enjoy dumplings in all variations. The visitors may choose between speck or spinach dumplings, cheese or beetroot dumplings, and sweet ones such as apricot dumplings. The round-shaped treats are served with the best local wines and music. Also the “Dumpling Festival” takes place on the semi-covered fairground in the Via Hans Feur road.
