A small house in a small village contains a wealth of information dating back millions of years: It is the GEOMuseum in the basement of the multi-purpose building Peter Rosegger near the church of Redagno di Sopra (1,552 m a.s.l.). The exhibition informs about the origins and geological evolution of the Dolomites and about the Bletterbach Canyon in Aldino, the "Grand Canyon of South Tyrol".
The small museum which was revised in the year 2006 exhibits the most important findings of this 8 km long gorge, such as fossilised seashell, plants including conifers and horsetails, reptiles and dinosaur tracks. The exhibition rooms, open from May to October, and the video room (diorama) are barrier-free accessible. The entrance fee includes also the admission to the GEOPARC Bletterbach Visitor Centre in Aldino and the Bletterbach Canyon itself with the necessary safety helmet rental: The hike through the gorge can start directly at the Redagno GEOMuseum.

More information
The guided hike through the Rio delle Foglie Gorge starting from Redagno is offered from May 12, 2024, every Sunday at 10.30 am in German and Italian language, guided hikes in English are available on request. The GEOMuseum stays open, such as the visitor centre at the entrance of the gorge, every year from the 1st of May to October 31. Season start 2024 on the 1st of May.
