Bolzano Wine Tasting

Every year in Bolzano there is a series of events aimed at exploring the best wines.

Venue of the event: Castel Mareccio
In the heart of the city of Bolzano and at the same time embedded in the lush green of the vineyards, there is Castel Mareccio. This castle is a poplar conference centre and since 1995 it has also been venue of the Bolzano Wine Tasting (Bozner Weinkost). The historical ambience of the castle confers a special flair to the wine event, which every year attracts a large number of people.

This event has been organised for 112 years now. The first spring wine market of Bolzano took place from March 12 to 22, 1896 in the wine tavern of the Torgglhaus in Bolzano. About 160 types of wine were tasted and compared. In these times wine was very important for the monarchy, thus also the grapevine area was twice as large as today.
The idea to organise a wine market has been repeatedly taken up after the WWs. In fact, this event was of utmost importance to winegrowers. This wine market trasformed into the so-called event "Bozner Weinkost" (Bolzano Wine Tasting), which every year is organised in Bolzano.

The programme involves a symposium on the eve of the event, which makes visitors wish for more, as well as award ceremonies, wine parties, guided tours, tastings... that is to say a programme able to cater for all tastes.
