Sirmiano

The ensemble of farms located high above Nalles at about 700 m a.s.l. form the locality of Sirmiano di Sotto

Sirmiano, also called Sirmiano di Sotto, is located at an altitude of 688 m a.s.l. at the mountain west of Nalles. This area is mainly characterised by fruit-growing and viticulture. The road to this place starts in the village of Nalles and runs past Castel Schwanburg as well as Payersberg Castle.

The centre of Sirmiano is situated between vineyards and apple orchards. It is composed of a scattered settlement with a series of farms, the little S. Cuore Church and a multi-functional building, which also hosts the fire brigade. Slightly underneath, there is the village of Pitzon, where you can find the Bittnerhof farm, particularly nice in autumn for those who love the Törggele tradition.

There is another highlight for wine connoisseurs: the “Weiss-Sirmianer” wine is mainly produced of Pinot Bianco grapes with a long ripening period.
