Getting there by train and bus

Bolzano is located along one of the main European railway routes and is connected to the big cities in the south and the north

The capital of South Tyrol can easily be reached from Munich and Innsbruck in the north as well as from Verona, Roma, Venice and Milano in the south. From Bolzano local trains run to the most important valleys and villages, all other places are connected by bus. Below you will find an overview of the railway connections and the possibilities to reach South Tyrol by train:


From the north:
From Munich, EuroCity trains start every two hours during the day directly to South Tyrol (via Innsbruck). Further information and time tables at the Deutsche Bahn DB and ÖBB Italia.

From the south:
Fast train connections run from Milano, Venice and Roma via Verona to Bolzano. Further information and time tables at the TrenItalia and südtirolmobil.

From the west:
The Rhaetian Railway heads towards Zernez in the Engadine (CH), from there you reach Malles in South Tyrol by the Postauto bus via the Fuorn Pass. From Malles by the Val Venosta Train to Bolzano. Further information and time tables at the Swiss Federal Railways.

From the east:
By train from Vienna via Villach to Lienz in East Tyrol and further on to San Candido in South Tyrol. From there, the trains of the Val Pusteria Railway called "Flirt" start. Further information and time tables at the Österreichische Bundesbahn ÖBB.
