Corno Nero

The Corno Nero (2.439 m asl) is located next to the Corno Bianco and is called “nero”, so to speak black, due to its dark colour compared to the Corno Bianco.

The Corno Nero consists, contrary to the Corno Bianco, of rocks such as vulcanic rock and tbe quartz-porphyry of Bolzano of reddish-grey colour.

You can scale the summit via the hiking trail from Passo Oclini via its north face. The Corno Bianco, however, is scaled much more often than the Corno Nero, which is, however, also a worthwhile destination for alpinists, as the trail is considered to be more varied than the one that leads to the Corno Bianco. Also the view is more impressive than the panorama you can enjoy from the Corno Bianco.

What is particularly recommendable is a walk on the circular trail, as it makes you familiar with a series of other mountain peaks in the surroundings. Corno Bianco and Corno Nero can, however, be scaled without any further mountaineering experiences, but you might need to be sure-fooded and free from giddiness.
