Monte Macaion
The summit of the Monte Macaion is located above Appiano and represents the northernmost edge of the Mendola mountain ridge.
By its bend, the Monte Macaion directs the Mendola mountain ridge towards north west and opens it up towards Merano and surroundings and the Passo Palade.
This mountain starts at the Penegal mountain, where a trail stretches its way along the long ridge, past the Forcolana, the Forcella Grande and the Kematscharte ridge, towards the peak of the Monte Macaion, summiting at 1,866 m with a huge mountain cross.
It offers a great panoramic view on the Dolomites, the Brenta and the Ortles mountains. What is also astonishing is the view on the entire Oltradige valley.
