Mountains
The terrain in the south of South Tyrol is lower than in the north, east and west. Nevertheless you can scale various mountains.
The mountain ranges along the South Tyrolean Wine Route even make part of the legendary Dolomites. Corno Nero and Corno Bianco are part of the Catinaccio-Latemar mountian range and significantly characterise the Bassa Atesina. Another mountain, actually a mountain ridge, is the Monte di Mezzo, which separates the Oltradige along a certain stretch, restraining the view on the Adige river. The Mendola mountain range, however, stretches in the west of the valley. It represents the border between the provinces of Trento and South Tyrol and culminates with the Penegal and Roen mountains.
