Journey to the Bolzano Christmas Market
If you decide to come to Bolzano in Advent we recommend you to plan your journey very carefully.
The Christmas Market of Bolzano is a particularly popular event. Above all on feast days and in weekends masses of people decide to visit the Christmas Market in the city. The parking spaces and garages are crowded and force car drivers to spend a lot of time in their vehicle looking for a parking space. Actually this is the time he or she wants to spend on the Christmas Market.
In order to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere on the Market, we warmly recommend you to use the means of public transport. The main station and the bus station are only five minutes away from Piazza Walther. Also city buses go to the centre on a regular basis.
For all those who would not like to leave their car at home, please take the electronic parking information system into consideration, providing information on parking spaces left in the city.
For all those who prefer a more comfortable journey:
From the south: motorway exit A22 Bolzano Sud (or SS 12). The station of Ponte d’Adige offers only limited parking spaces, while at the station of Bolzano Sud there are 1,300 spaces available. From there you can simply take the bus to the centre (every 15 minutes). Moreover there are also trains taking you to the main station within 5 minutes only. It takes you five more minutes only to reach the centre on foot, once reached the main station.
Coming from north you take the motorway exit Bolzano Nord (or SS 12), heading towards the parking structure Bolzano Centre (Bolzano Centro), where 1,200 spaces are available at convenient conditions. A two-minutes’ walk takes you to Piazza Walther.
Coming from Merano, so to speak from the west we recommend you to park your car at the city hall (Palasport). Located in the Via Resia, which can be reached via the SS42 and 38. From this place, every 10 minutes a bus transports passengers directly to the centre. From Merano and intermediate station we recommend you to comfortably take the trail to the centre.
Camping cars are welcome in Bolzano and surroundings.

Bus Coaches are recommended to adhere to the information available at the motorway exits of Bolzano Nord and Bolzano Sud, guiding you to the Mayr Nusser parking structure. Also the local police is available for any information.
Also a flight to Bolzano is possible. The Bolzano Airport is away only 15 minutes from the centre and is located close to the fair centre. If you need a taxi, call +39 0471 981111.
