Technical mile
The technical mile of South Tyrol comprises 50 recommended cycling tours with special destinations. Tecneum - Museum for technical cultural assets.
Due to its “irregular nature”, South Tyrol has always been promoted the need of people to overcome mountains and tame water and as a consequence several technical innovations were brought into being in this country in the last century. The history of our country regarding its engineers and technical innovations are presented under the open sky by the Tecneum.
In the framework of this special museum, there is a technique course spread all over South Tyrol and this course has also been integrated in a new bike guide. The so-called technical mile offers more than 50 venues that are recommended as worthwhile cycling destinations that are connected with the subject of technique. From Resia to San Candido and from Brennero to Salorno there are several interesting objects that have been integrated into cycling tours.
The Museum for Technical Cultural Assets is a virtual museum boasting a considerable database of objects. Mines, trains, architectonic highlights, people from South Tyrol who enthusiast the world with their findings and much more is presented in detail. Some 200 years of technique in South Tyrol are presented and ready to be explored. Those who deal with it will be amazed. Moreover there are events, exhibitions and seminars calling attention. As a consequence of the numerous actions and events the Tecneum was founded in 2005.
