MMM Schloss Sigmundskron 2011

MMM Firmiano

The “Messner Mountain Museum” has been brought into being by the famous alpinist, in a very special place that is steeped in history.

The MMM is a very special museum and alone the location steeped in history speaks volumes. In fact, Reinhold Messner, a worldwide famous alpinist, has been looking for a principal seat for his museums, and he striked it rich.

The Castle has been refurbished and re-inaugurated together with the museum in 2006. A total of five museums in South Tyrol and Trentino provide a new approach to mountains, and who else could better mediate on this topic than Messner. This is also where Messner exhibits the items he brought from his tours all over the world. His experiences and his knowledge enable us to think out of the box and to learn more about the world. Every year special editions complete the offer.

The exact name of the museum is the “MMM Firmian Mountain Heritage” and it represents a place of encounters. Show rooms, information about mountains and people living in the mountains, various items, the offer is varied and leaves space for interpretation. Closeness and distances, curiosities and amazement, that’s what the castle is also about.
