Churches

We even have some special kinds of churches!

Terlano for instance features a Gothic parish church, which was built in the 14th century and boasts some frescoes that are definitely worth seeing.

Then there would be the “cathedral in the countryside”, a mighty church with a fascinating past in S. Paolo/Appiano. And Caldaro boasts even 8 of these religious kinds of buildings.

Termeno hosts the highest brick-built church tower (86 m) in all of Tyrol, the St Valentine Church and the Roman St Jacob Church in Kastelaz. The latter features a fairly rare and thus rather valuable fresco cycle.

In Corona slightly above the village of Cortaccia you will find a small lonely church. The so-called St George Church is a small but mighty historical treasure.

Also the village of Ora boasts several treasures. There is for instance the St Peter Church, a Gothic building with a Roman tower dating back to the 15th century. Inside you will find the oldest church of South Tyrol…

Montagna is home to the St Stephen’s Church with the oh-so special Hans Klocker altar.
