S. Genesio Cable Car

The San Genesio cable car makes you get around a 15-minutes’ drive on a serpentine mountain road.

Over and over a gondola arrives in dribs and drabs in the place where you can perfeclty start exploring the Salto high plateau. A perfect view on the surrounding Dolomite mountains can also be enjoyed from the cable car, and it is really a worthwhile view. The valley station of the cable car is located only a stone’s throw from Castel Roncolo. The cable car takes only nine minutes to reach San Genesio located above 1,000 m asl. Enjoy these nine short minutes, as you will see South Tyrol from a very different perspective. From Lake Caldaro, castles and mansions at Appiano to the rough peaks of the Dolomites, you wil have South Tyrol at your feet in a cable car ride.

San Genesio has got to offer a dense network of bicycle and hiking trails and you can even enjoy horse riding across the impressive landscape. By the way, you can also transport your bike in the cable car. Typical for the Salten high plateau are the colourful ancient larch trees. Cows, horses and sheep graze on the wide meadows. And if you seek the perfect idyll we recommend you to go there during the week, as on weekends many people love to enjoy the advantages of the Salten high plateau.
