Colle Cable Car

A ride with the Colle Cable Car has got a very pleasant side effect, as it is really cheap.

Colle is a lovely little village above Bolzano offering a great view on the city of Bolzano as well as the southern part of South Tyrol.
The Colle funicular is a real insider’s tip. It is the oldest levitating funicular worldwide and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2008. Not only for this reason in 2006 the cable car has been all round renewed. On June 29, 1908 the cable car took into operation and in the course of time it has become a very popular tourist attraction. The Colle cable car ends at 1,250 m asl and takes (not only) many inhabitants of Bolzano in higher realms, where the townsfolk enjoys the refreshing mountain air.
Normally cabins run every 30 minutes and transport each 20 people within five minutes. However, when necessary the Colle Cable Car runs continuously. By the way, also bicycles are transported and hazelnut walking canes are made available.

Once the mountain station is reached, the lovely village of Colle and beautiful surroundings will enchant you, providing numerous excursion destinations in the green. By the way, the village and surrounding meadows and forest are a nature reserve, which means that construction in this area is absolutely forbidden. There are numerous hiking possibilities and adventuresome experiences are guaranteed.
As an alternative to a cable car ride you can take the 9 km long serpentine and narrow road up to the oh-so lovely village.
